The Ood Cast Album

Well, it’s finally here. Because you demanded it. All the songs from the second series of The Ood Cast in one place and ready to be downloaded. Now you can hear the evolving melodic genius of Laura’s songs without all the distracting geekery and tom-foolery that normally surrounds them. Stick them on your iPod, sing along to them in your car, pump them out of a crackling, sparking loudspeaker as you pilot your exploding attack craft into the choking atmosphere of another grim alien world.

Have fun basically.

This will be the first in a succession of “goodies” we’ve got lined up for you to keep the Ood fires burning during our long summer Off Season. We’re also working on the much asked for Ood Cast Theme Tune Ringtone and there’ll be a few more songs around the corner too.

Obviously we’re not going to charge you to download the album, but if you did feel the songs were worth a few quid then we’d encourage you to use the new Donate button on the right of the screen. It turns out running a podcast isn’t as cheap as you might imagine. We’d appreciate anything you feel able to give.

The album’s yours either way.

Okay, enjoy. See you on the flipside.

  1. I should like to donate £5 of your English Pounds towards the Laura is amazing fund. I’m afraid she knocks Chameleon Circuit into a cocked hoop. Not only is she a fantastic singer, the lyrics are also witty and poignant. Huzzah to the Ood Cast, may your dangly squid beards grow long and squidgy.

  2. I, like MisterChinn, would also like to make (and just made) a donation to that same fund for a phenomenal compilation that is, The Oodcast Album. Brilliant and a fantastic podcast. Cheers to you all.

  3. Ohhhh thank you so so much !
I’m going to listen to these songs so often !

I really love your podcast, and the songs, and the oodcast news…

Spend a nice holiday, and see you soon !
    🙂

  4. I loved the songs on the podcasts and now I love them even more all together. Thanks to all for the great album. Can’t wait for the next one after next series. Happy Summer OODsters

  5. No one — and I mean NO ONE — puts more effort into their podcasts than you fine folk. Sketches and songs and witty banter along with the insightful commentary… it’s easily the finest Doctor Who podcast in the known universe, and possibly the best podcast of any kind anywhere. (Although I have to give a shout out to the Doctor Who Podcast, the 13th episode of which featured your talented songstress Laura and introduced me to your show, without which I might never have known about you. Thanks, DWP.)

And a sincere ‘thank you’ for collecting these wonderful songs and making them available for download. A donation is most definitely in order.

  6. Great album! I especially like “The Fall of Silence”, so I’ve tried transcribing the lyrics, but there’s some parts I can’t get correct (I’m not a native english speaker.) What I have is this so far:

    Hello River my old friend
I’ve come to talk with you again
Because a crack in time’s repeating
    ????
And the concept that became a ??? refrain
    Still remains
    Within the fall of silence

Through countless worlds I walked alone
Against the dark I held my own
    A fearsome legend fighting evil
It seems I may have caused ???
For a myriad of foes whos empires I had sacked
    Had formed a pact
To speed the fall of silence

And in the eerie light I saw
    Fivehundred aliens maybe more
    Aliens talking about a box
A fiendish trap they’d made with cryptic locks
And a correlation with a task they shared
    To be prepared
To end the fall of silence

“Wait”, said I “you do not know”
“Lock me in and the TARDIS blows”
“Hear my words so I might teach you”
“Take my arms that I might reach you”
But my words like silent raindrops fell
    And ecchoed
    Through the fall of silence

    And the aliens were dismayed
At what a massive gaffe they’d made
    And the signs began decoding
    To ??? the universe exploding
And the sign said the words
“Hello Sweetie” are written on the diamond wall
    To warn you all
Now face the sound of silence

(Fantastic lyrics, by the way :))

  7. Just downloaded the Album at long last and coughed up a donation, love the music and love the show, keep up the podcast and the positive attitude that goes along with it. Cheers again for your generosity. – catbhoy

  8. Hello Anna:

I’m happy to fill in the blanks of your lyrics (there were a few quick lines, I know! Damn you, Simon and Garfunkel!). Really glad you liked them- Here they are for you:

    Hello River my old friend
I’ve come to talk with you again
Because a crack in time’s repeating
A cryptic menace I need help beating
And the concept that became a neat refrain
    Still remains
    Within the fall of silence

Through countless worlds I walked alone
Against the dark I held my own
    A fearsome legend fighting evil
It seems I may have caused upheaval
For a myriad foes whose empires I had sacked
    Had formed a pact
To speed the fall of silence

And in the eerie light I saw
    Five hundred aliens maybe more
    Aliens talking about a box
A fiendish trap they’d made with cryptic locks
And a coalition with a task they shared
    To be prepared
To end the fall of silence

“Wait”, said I “you do not know”
“Lock me in and the TARDIS blows”
“Hear my words so I might teach you”
“Take my arms that I might reach you”
But my words like silent raindrops fell
    And ecchoed
    Through the fall of silence

    And the aliens were dismayed
At what a massive gaffe they’d made
    And the signs began decoding
    To mark the universe exploding
And the sign said the words
“Hello Sweetie” are written on the diamond wall
    To warn you all
Now face the sound of silence
