Festive Treat 2: A Crossover Podcast & Our Christmas Single

The Ood Cast | December 23, 2010

We’ll record our Christmas episode after we’ve seen what Mr Moffat has in store for us on Christmas Day but until then we had the privilege of being asked to join in the festive fun over at The Doctor Who Podcast. We wrote and appeared in a sketch with them and you can listen to that (along with a few other surprises) by clicking on the following link:

The Doctor Who Podcast Christmas Special

Please go over and have a listen and maybe subscribe to their podcast (if you don’t already)? Trev, James and Tom run an amazing show full of cracking interviews, reviews and discussions about everything Doctor Who. They deserve your time.

You’ll also hear a Christmas duet between Laura & Tom which is, in our humble opinion, one of the best songs we’ve ever done. Tom is an incredibly accomplished blues singer and Laura, as we all know, isn’t exactly a slouch in the vocal performance department either.

So as an extra treat, it’s our pleasure to provide a complete version of the song for download. The track should slot comfortably into the rest of The Ood Cast album as track 19. Merry Christmas.

The Ood Cast Album

The Ood Cast | July 8, 2010

Well, it’s finally here. Because you demanded it. All the songs from the second series of The Ood Cast in one place and ready to be downloaded. Now you can hear the evolving melodic genius of Laura’s songs without all the distracting geekery and tom-foolery that normally surrounds them. Stick them on your iPod, sing along to them in your car, pump them out of a crackling, sparking loudspeaker as you pilot your exploding attack craft into the choking atmosphere of another grim alien world.

Have fun basically.

This will be the first in a succession of “goodies” we’ve got lined up for you to keep the Ood fires burning during our long summer Off Season. We’re also working on the much asked for Ood Cast Theme Tune Ringtone and there’ll be a few more songs around the corner too.

Obviously we’re not going to charge you to download the album, but if you did feel the songs were worth a few quid then we’d encourage you to use the new Donate button on the right of the screen. It turns out running a podcast isn’t as cheap as you might imagine. We’d appreciate anything you feel able to give.

The album’s yours either way.

Okay, enjoy. See you on the flipside.

Peruvian Folk Madness

The Ood Cast | May 24, 2010

In last week’s episode we did a sketch in homage to the late, great Fast Show showcasing Alpha’s jazz voice and picking up on Amy’s apparent love of Peruvian Folk music. The track that eventually went out with that sketch, a kind of punchy Latin dance number, was Laura’s second attempt to create something catchy.

We didn’t include her first attempt because, in Laura’s own words “it made you want to peel your own ears off”.

Arguably closer to to the Peruvian Folk ideal, it is nonetheless a gruelling experience. Click on the following link with care.

The (Musical) Beast Below

Chris Sigma | May 3, 2010

Finally got around to editing together the music video for Laura’s song from our episode “Pond Life”. It’s the one set to the tune of Mark Ronson’s version of “Valerie”, retelling the events of “The Beast Below” from Amy’s point of view.

On top of Laura’s amazing vocals, with the visuals it actually makes a really good summary of the whole plot. Like a musical summation.

If you like these, leave a comment (and a suggestion of which of our songs you’d like to see tackled next) and we’ll get going on it.
