Hello! I just discovered The Ood Cast and chose this as the first episode I’d listen to. I’m so glad I did! I enjoyed it so much, especially your “honeymoon selection” skit. Truth be told, I thought it was a lot funnier than the “Comic Relief” skits that aired earlier this month. Moffat should hire you all to write for him! I also enjoyed Laura’s singing. (You probably have heard by now that there are, in fact, two different tunes for “In the Bleak Midwinter” – Laura was singing a tune by Harold Darke; everyone else was singing the more familiar tune (since it is easier for congregational singing) by Gustav Holst. Personally, I prefer Darke’s tune; but then, I have to confess a tendency to be something of a liturgical snob.

At any rate, I thoroughly enjoyed your creative and enthusiastic commentary on “A Christmas Carol.” I look forward to catching up on past Oodcasts, and also to listening as we begin series six! Thanks for a great show.

There’s a whole thing in Dr Who called the Blinovitch Limitation Effect – one of its principles is that the same person but from different time streams can’t touch without a massive explosion happening. This part of the BLE is first talked about in an episode called “Mawdryn Undead” (a 5th Doctor story).

Anyway, the point is that Time Lords aren’t affected by this principle. Look how many times the Doctor shakes hands with himself in “The Five Doctors” for instance. They’re obviously protected by Time Lord technology. So if you want to match the two stories up in your head then I’d say The Doctor has extended his protection to Kazran in the scene you mentioned. He’s thought ahead and used the TARDIS to protect him.

He can’t do that with Rose in “Father’s Day” – he hasn’t got his TARDIS.

Or you can just say, they were different writers and they made a mistake. But I like the first explanation more…

(There’s also the matter of Amy holding her younger selve’s hand in The Big Bang … but that was a different universe)

I have one problem with the episode, A Christmas Carol: in Fathers Day, Rose couldn’t touch the baby at the risk of Reapers killing everyone inside the church, so why could old Kazran touch little Kazran? It doesn’t make sense to me … unless it was because in Fathers Day there was already a wound in time, so people were more vulnerable to the Reapers. … I don’t know, what do you guys think?

My friend (Christy – as she likes to be called) has been constantly telling me to listen to your podcast. Having listened to other Doctor Who podcasts I thought it would be the same stuff, bit I really love this podcast and am now hooked. I have also listened back to the start of series 3. Laura & Chris Alpha, you are so talented with your songs/poem. Andy & Chris Sigma, you are just so funny! Looking forward to future episodes. I have one suggestion, could you maybe do a video podcast? That would be awesome. Thanks for the entertainment!

This is a very late comment. I do apologize.
Just wanted to say that I’ve been listening for a while and am very fond of this podcast. This episode came at the end of a very long day, so it was a real treat. I love your skits, and Laura’s music has actually inspired me to write some Trock of my own! (Something that amuses my friends to no end because I wasn’t a Trock fan for a little while)
So thanks for the podcast, and I’ll try and comment more regularly (I am taking the advice of the Ghost of Ood Cast Present!)
