I remember seeing a magazine article about Johnny Depp being the Doctor in a Doctor Who Movie and RTD's reaction to this rumour. Let's just say that RTD's reaction said it all (which contained much swearing and a definate "no") On the Mighty Boosh 3 publicity, they were talking about Julian Barrat being a Doctor as well. I think this could work (the first Doctor with a moustache) but would be hard to bring in a comedy actor and expect people to take him seriously when he is facing Daleks and the like. Anyway, for now the Doctor is chosen and I hope Matt Smith sticks around for a long time. I wouldn’t mind Alan Rickman being a Doctor, but (as you said) is a long shot.
